A Letter from Our Founder

I'm Connor Black, founder of Hetrafi—and like many of you, I've been a gamer my whole life. From MMORPGs to shooters, I've always loved diving deep into games, spending thousands of hours chasing loot, leveling up, and battling it out with friends.

One experience changed everything for me.

Back when I was 16, I watched my friend Ben grind for two months in WoW Classic just to afford a mount. He was buzzing—until he got scammed. Lost it all in seconds. It hit me then: the in-game trading world was like the Wild West. No protection, no accountability. Just risk.

Fast forward a few years. I'd spent thousands of hours in games—Titanfall alone must've taken up hundreds—and I eventually won a tiny local student tournament in Bath. The prize? £100. It was fun, sure. But it made me think: How is this all I've earned after a lifetime of gaming?

I tried streaming, but hated being on camera—like many others do. I didn't want to become an influencer. I just wanted to play, compete, trade, and maybe make some money along the way.

So I began building the solution I couldn't find: a safe, fair, and fun place where gamers could earn doing what they love. That's when the three pillars clicked into place:

• Help – Offer your services, coaching, or expertise
• Trade – Safely exchange in-game goods
• Fight – Compete against others for real rewards

Hetrafi was born.

That was back in 2016. I had an engineering background and, admittedly, way too much self-belief. I thought I could build the entire platform on my own. I spent 18 months going in circles before realizing I needed help.

Then something unexpected happened. I was invited to consult on a few investment meetings. I pointed out gaps in their strategy, and one of the investors was so impressed, he turned around and said, "I want to invest in your project instead." That one spark lit the way forward.

We brought in more private investors, outsourced the first build… and it flopped. The platform just wasn't good enough. It wasn't something I would use—and that was the benchmark.

So we did it right.

We hired a dedicated in-house dev team, brought on external specialists, and despite setbacks during COVID, the true version of Hetrafi—V1—launched in 2024. The beta tests were incredibly encouraging. Players loved it. But we knew the platform would only thrive with a large, engaged community.

To support mass adoption and reward our early users, we introduced the next evolution: HetraCoin.

This wasn't just another crypto. It was built from the ground up by my brother, Cavan Black, a brilliant developer who joined as our tech lead. HetraCoin adds real utility to Hetrafi—powering secure, low-fee transactions on the platform while giving everyday gamers and supporters a way to invest in the future of gaming.

As Hetrafi grows, so does HetraCoin. It's a shared journey—built by gamers, for gamers.
